Position Summary
Hunter Library at Western Carolina University invites applicants for the position of Library User Experience Web Developer Assistant Professor of Practice. We are seeking a collaborative, passionate, and innovative candidate to provide leadership in advancing digital user experience projects and web services administration that will enhance and improve the library's digital presence. This person provides cross-functional, collaborative leadership for the design, development, implementation, documentation, establishment of policies, assessment, and maintenance of user interfaces in support of all departments of the library. This person ensures a fully integrated web environment that optimally supports and advances the mission of the Library and the University.
Working in a highly collaborative, small team environment, the candidate's leadership responsibilities will intersect with many of the library's key strategic initiatives.
Serving as a member of the COMET Department (Content, Organization & Management, eResources and Technology), the person in this position will work closely with the Systems Librarian to ensure systems integrate seamlessly with one another. They will also supervise the work of one Technology Support Analyst and may also supervise student employees.
The Library User Experience Web Developer is a fixed term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. This full-time position will initially be appointed for a three-year term, with the potential for renewable one-year terms thereafter. The position is eligible for a potential future promotion. The library will support training and professional development for this position, at a level commensurate with support for other librarians. The incumbent will be a member of the library faculty and will be expected to participate in committees, provide leadership within their specialty, and contribute to the broader field.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $60,000-$63,000.
