The History Department at Old Dominion University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in July 2022, with research concentration in Native North American History and a preference for expertise in Environmental History.

Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

Candidates must demonstrate ability to teach a United States survey course, undergraduate courses on Early and Revolutionary North America, and undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training

Ph.D. in history or a related field (such as American Studies or Native American Studies) is required by the time of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification Preferred Qualifications

Field of specialization is open; applicants who can contribute to interdisciplinary programs in interethnic studies and are interested in community outreach are preferred.

Conditions of Employment

In accordance with Executive Directive #18 issued by Governor Ralph Northam effective September 1, 2021, all Old Dominion University employees who enter the workplace or work remotely must disclose their vaccine status to the designated university personnel.
