Job Summary

University of Kentucky seeks an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Lexington, KY to provide hospital-based clinical services for patients at UK Chandler Medical Center and UK Good Samaritan Hospital. Clinical responsibilities will be devoted to hospital inpatient medicine, working a combination of day, evening and night shifts on the Hospital Medicine Service. Clinical responsibilities include efforts as attending physician on the Internal Medicine inpatient or consult service; attending physician in hospitalist- staffed outpatient clinics such as discharge, follow-up or pre-operative evaluation clinics. Perform didactic lectures in classroom settings and hands- on clinical bedside teaching in hospital and/or ambulatory settings, for medical students, interns, residents and fellows. Participate in the University of Kentucky's professional development programs, such as participation or membership in professional organizations, continuing medical education activities and quality improvement projects. Schedule of 25 weeks of rounding blocks and 2 week blocks of jeopardy (backup) out of a total of 52 blocks per year (approx. 15-16 days per month).

This position requires M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent, completion of Residency in Internal Medicine, board eligible/board certified in Internal Medicine, eligible for Kentucky State Medical License. Any candidate offered a position may be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by University of Kentucky Human Resources. This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
