The College of Science, Mathematics, & Health. Department of Health Sciences at Concord University, Athens, West Virginia is advertising for an Assistant Professor or Instructor level position.
Concord University is a baccalaureate liberal arts-based institution with a strong commitment to programs of excellence in teacher education, business, pre-professional programs in the arts and sciences, and public service. The Department of Health Sciences has eight full-time faculty who serve approximately 200 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degree options in Athletic Training, Health Sciences, Health Promotion, and Wellness Education.
The Department of Health Sciences is seeking an Assistant Professor or Instructor to serve as a faculty member at Concord University. This is a full- time, 9-month position beginning August 2023. The Department of Health Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Wellness Education, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, a Master of Arts in Health Promotion, and is currently developing a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Successful candidates are expected to have a willingness and desire to engage in program, department, college, university, and professional development and promotion. Teaching assignments are based on course availability and expertise. Courses taught will be assigned based on candidate background, but could include both undergraduate and graduate courses such as Personal Health, Principles of Nutrition, Principles of Human Sexuality, Foundations of Health Promotion, Needs Assessment, Program Planning and Evaluation.

Minimum Education: Masters Considered, Doctorate preferred
Minimum Qualifications: Earned Masters or Doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, DrPH) in Health Promotion, Public Health, Exercise Science or related field
Required Skills
• Ability to reason logically so as to effectively analyze and solve problems. • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships. • Ability to speak and write effectively and to develop reports. • Ability to work independently, with a minimum of direction and under broad guidelines. • Experience in teaching modalities, exercise physiology, and evidence-based research • Experience with programmatic assessment • Evidence of scholarly activity supported by external funding • Experience with developing and delivering online courses (asynchronous and/or synchronous). • Evidence of involvement and leadership with state, district, and national professional organizations.
