The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University seeks a tenure- track faculty member for Fall 2022. The newly established Film Production Concentration within the vibrant B.F.A. program in Theatre focuses on narrative fictional filmmaking and has a rapidly growing diverse student body and a new dedicated building for film, television and audio production opening in the Fall of 2022. Responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate courses in film, advising Film Production students, and supervising co-curricular student projects. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in Film or closely related discipline;
  • Professional experience in film, episodic or other visual storytelling;
  • Teaching experience at the college level; and
  • Commitment to an ongoing professional career.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in film direction and/or film editing;
  • Undergraduate teaching experience of film courses, specifically film directing, and at least one of the following: writing, editing, producing, cinematography, audio, and production design ;
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills;
  • Strong collaborative abilities; and
  • A personal and/or professional engagement with communities of color and other marginalized peoples.
