The Division of Cinema and Media Studies at the School of Cinematic Arts in
the University of Southern California invites applications for a full time
tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in U.S. cinema
and media, expected to begin on August 16, 2022. Of particular interest are
candidates whose work includes (but is not restricted to) a focus on race
and/or indigeneity, migration and border studies, settler colonialism,
technology, comparative regional contexts, hemispheric studies, queer, trans
and feminist studies, materialist histories, environmental studies and more.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. at the time of appointment and should
demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will
be expected to teach a range of offerings related to U.S. film history and
film forms, from large introductory undergraduate lecture courses through
smaller graduate seminars. Interested candidates should provide a cover
letter, curriculum vitae including names and contact details for three
references, and one 25 to 40 page sample of recent scholarship.
