Job Summary

The Chemistry Program within the School of Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is seeking an innovative individual in chemistry with a research emphasis on environmental chemistry for a tenure-track position to teach chemistry undergraduate courses and to oversee curriculum review and development. The School of Sciences offers a bachelor's degree in chemistry with concentrations in biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and forensic chemistry.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses during the fall and spring semester.

Redesign and manage core chemistry classes

Advise students and maintain records of student progress.

Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication.

Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment.

Actively participate in recruitment for the Chemistry degree program.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be passionate about teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate chemistry coursework. ABD candidates in late stages of dissertation will also be considered. Qualifications include:

Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds

Coursework and/or experience in chemistry or related field

Effective oral and written communication skills

A research agenda or demonstration of scholarly activity in the area of environmental chemistry

Experience with course and curriculum review and/or development.
