Job Summary

The Grinnell College Biology Department has a long-standing commitment to, and record of success in, attracting and retaining students from diverse backgrounds. Our innovative curriculum and pedagogy promote inclusivity and help students explore how science interrelates with other disciplines. Our Department invites applications for two appointments (one for 1 year, one for 2 years) in areas related to genetics or microbiology, and molecular biology beginning Fall 2022. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred; Instructor (ABD) or Associate Professor possible.

In addition to a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, a candidate's research and teaching interests might include, but are not limited to, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and virology. The teaching load is five courses over two semesters. A lab section counts as 0.5 courses. A successful candidate will teach our highly engaged and diverse students the intermediate level course Molecules, Cells and Organisms with lab (Bio 251), and an advanced course with lab in the applicant's area of specialty, with the remaining courses to be determined.
