ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – NEUROSCIENCE

The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Takahashi, invites applications at the Assistant Professor level for tenure-track Faculty positions with an emphasis on mechanistic understanding of nervous system function. We seek outstanding scientists addressing molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying brain function, as well as individuals using high-resolution imaging, behavior, and neural circuit methodology. We seek outstanding scientists addressing molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying brain function, as well as individuals using high-resolution imaging, behavior, and neural circuit methodology. Scientists within the Department of Neuroscience participate in a vibrant, interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and highly collaborative research community within the University, and enjoy access to state-of-the-art research cores including imaging, metabolic phenotyping, behavioral phenotyping, protein chemistry, structural biology, cryo-electron microscopy, genomics, genetics and transgenic technology. The Department of Neuroscience is a core component of the newly formed Peter O'Donnell Jr. Brain Institute at UT Southwestern. A Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field and postdoctoral research training and/or previous research experience in Neuroscience is required.
