Assistant Professor, Multicultural Education
The Department of Counseling, Special Education and Diversity (CSED) at the
University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) seeks to hire a tenure-track
Assistant Professor of Multicultural Education for Spring 2022.
Coursework in multicultural education is required of all undergraduate
students seeking teaching certification. At the graduate level, several
education programs require multicultural education coursework. Additionally, a
master's degree in multicultural studies is offered with a variety of areas of
specialization such as multicultural education, bilingual education, ESL, and
special education. The Studies in Language and Culture program, which houses
multicultural education, engages in various service partnerships within our

Education courses and seek external funding.
Establish an appropriate research program which leads to peer reviewed

1. Earned doctorate in Multicultural Education or related area with a minimum
of 18 graduate hours specifically in Multicultural Education.
2. Bilingual or ESL supplemental certification.
3. Three years of full-time teaching experience at a public or private school
or equivalent experience with students from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated record of undergraduate teaching excellence.
A strong background of research experiences and a demonstrated record of
research and scholarly activity.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in the integration of technology to support teaching and learning.
Knowledge of theories and pedagogy associated with adult learning.
Demonstrated effectiveness in serving diverse student populations as well as
effectiveness in leadership roles.
Engagement in professional organizations focused on serving individuals from
