The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a ten- month appointment. The position requires a physical presence on campus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities include the following primary duties: teach courses as assigned with the understanding that most, if not all courses, will be online courses taught in a combination of synchronous and asynchronous formats. Engage in scholarly activities including individual and collaborative research resulting in publications and presentations. Perform service to the department, college, university, and profession. Other duties and responsibilities include working collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, students, and campus leaders. Assist with activities that contribute to the success of the department and program including student recruitment.

The faculty member would coordinate the school and district leadership programs engaging in activities such as monitoring field experiences, scheduling classes, processing license applications, and leading program evaluation and reporting. The program faculty member would be expected to maintain a campus presence of a minimum of 20 hours per week. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Possess command of the discipline/program including emerging trends and issues; the ability to deliver effective instruction and assessment of student performance; capability of engaging in successful individual and collaborative research and scholarship; ability to interact in a positive manner with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators; and the ability to assume leadership responsibilities for projects and other unassigned duties to help cover unique situations as appropriate. Candidates must have experience working with diverse groups of students and supporting the promotion of social justice.

-Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education. -Knowledge of student development theory. -Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations, and procedures. -Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. -Ability to compile statistics into reports. -Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as a part of a team. -Ability to make sound judgments and assist in resolving student concerns. -Effective interpersonal communication, writing, and organizational abilities. -Civility in all interactions of a public or confidential nature. -Demonstrate follow-up contacts and consultations in a timely manner.

Required Education and/or Experience

The formal education of a doctorate or terminal degree is required. At least 3 years of experience as a K-12 educational administration leader.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Experience teaching graduate courses in the field P-12 educational leadership; experience in a district-level administrative role; a record of scholarly accomplishment and record of service to the field. Candidates at the associate level are expected to also have an established line of research, success securing external funding, and be professionally active in regional and national organizations.

License(s)/Certifications (Required or Preferred)

A valid license as a school/district administrator in any state is preferred, but not required.
