Job description

The School of Art & Design has a long-sustained reputation for innovation and has alumni who inform, mediate and create the world around us. The School is a dynamic, innovative and international environment where we embrace an ever- changing external world through teaching, research and creative practice.

We are looking to appoint a Course Director for BA International Fashion Business to primarily support the Fashion provision within the School of Art and Design in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The courses have an enviable reputation for leading design education in this field; they are particularly famous for their links with industry and a forty-year record of producing successful graduates who have progressed to leading positions in fashion design studios all over the world.

As a Course Director, successful applicants must be prepared to liaise with other academics and professional services staff, such as workshop demonstrators, and develop materials and deliver teaching and learning activities. This candidate must also be willing to review, experiment with, and develop newer digital approaches to representing design thinking/outcomes (e.g. through augmented and virtual reality) and consider how they may be relevant to the taught curriculum and student skill-sets. Candidates must be confident to engage with physical and online teaching methods, practices, tools, and an integrated and at times cross-disciplinary approach to studio teaching and learning.

The achievement and satisfaction of our students is our top priority. Candidates must be qualified (or be willing to become qualified) to teach and assess at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high level digital fluency and a continuing engagement with professional, scholarly and pedagogic development - those without a teaching qualification will be required to undertake Coventry University's PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship. Coventry University is committed to providing our employees with the very best opportunities for both career and personal development. We offer a wide choice of development and training courses to all staff as well as generous holiday allowances, final salary pensions and flexible working options. We would welcome enquiries prior to application - for an informal discussion about this post, contact Nick Gorse head of School of Art and Design
