We are seeking a full-time, equity-minded faculty member to join our History and Political Science Department. This will be someone with a terminal Ph.D. in History, American Studies, or a related field, a passion for innovative teaching strategies, and a commitment to educating a diverse student body. In furtherance of the department's ongoing commitment to diversifying the voices, texts, and subjects of our American History curriculum, our preferred candidate is someone and who is able to develop and teach courses from a transnational perspective addressing trans-Atlantic, Latin American, and Afro- Caribbean narratives and currents of US and global history. The appointment is renewable, starting at the level of assistant professor in August 2021.

The teaching load is 4-4 with classes divided between the history department (¾) and the college's first-year humanities seminar (¼). In addition to the regular teaching load and departmental/college service, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of interdisciplinary programs at the college, an initiative designed to advance our current strategic plan, which emphasizes experiential and interdisciplinary education.

Qualifications Candidates for this position should possess an earned doctorate in History or a humanities-based field or discipline related to History and experience teaching at the postsecondary level. Evidence of substantive experience in the promotion of equity in education is greatly preferred.

Knowledge Skills Abilities Area of Study: American History or American Studies. Area of Concentration: African American History/Studies, Latin and Caribbean Studies, or related field.
