Job Description:

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences wku.edu/seas at Western Kentucky University (WKU) wku.edu invites applications for a full time 9-month, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Computer Information Technology, to begin August 2022.

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs: Master's degrees in computer science and Engineering Technology Management, and Bachelor's degrees in Architectural Science, Civil Engineering, Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. The Computer Information Technology (CIT) wku.edu/cit program is one of the programs in SEAS.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses across the disciplines of computer information technology. In addition, they will participate in advising, course/curriculum development (e.g., software development, database management, networks, programming, security, etc.), scholarly research, and teaching in an environment where collaboration and collegiality are valued. Service to the program, college, university, and the profession is expected. Industry and professional experience, applied research, and grant development capabilities are highly desirable. The school welcomes candidates with evidence of research potential and effectiveness in teaching.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be ABD at the time of application and must have earned doctorate degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related discipline from an AACSB or equivalent accredited institution by the time of appointment.
  • Candidates must have interest and ability to teach in one more of the following areas:
  • Cybersecurity including network/operating system security technologies, forensic analysis, and Cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Software development including languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, APIs, and IDE's.
  • Networking and communication including mobile and wireless, network security, and software-defined networking.
