The University of Bradford School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is seeking
to appoint a 0.6 FTE Assistant Professor in Clinical Skills, to strengthen our
sector-leading teaching in Pharmacy, Physician Associate Studies and Clinical
We recognise that applicants from under-represented groups may not apply for
jobs unless they are confident they meet all the criteria. You are welcome to
contact us to discuss the role further and are encouraged to think of your
strengths, skills and experiences in the broadest sense when considering your
suitability. We welcome applications from people on different professional
pathways and recognise that you may not have worked in academia previously.
This is a teaching-focused post, which requires an experienced and
enthusiastic clinical educator to take a proactive role in developing new
learning materials alongside our highly experienced and supportive programme
teams. The post holder will join a truly innovative School of Pharmacy and
Medical Sciences, with accredited healthcare programmes that prepare students
for clinical practice and non-medical prescriber status.
The post-holder will work across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to
develop and deliver teaching and assessment of practical clinical skills.
These skills are needed by our students to help them to (a) diagnose disease
and (b) monitor the effectiveness and safety of treatments. Teaching and
assessment may be practice-based, in simulated (but face-to-face) settings
and virtual. Spiral curricula should ensure the development, validation and
recording of clinical skills as students make progress. There will also be a
pastoral support role for students as a Personal Academic Tutor.
The post holder will be an experienced healthcare practitioner (e.g.,
pharmacist, nurse, doctor, or physician associate) demonstrating advanced
practice and a high-level of practical skills. The post-holder will hold
current professional registration or be eligible to hold registration e.g.,
returning to practice. Applicants may have a main background in any healthcare
sector e.g., hospital, general practice or community care. Experience of
cross-sector working, and transitions of care would be an advantage.
The post-holder's commitment to multi-professional, integrated, and person-
centred care is essential.
This role may be combined (at the post-holder's discretion) with another
part-time role directly providing clinical care. The post-holder will have
experience of teaching in a practice-setting and may already have experience
in higher education. It is expected that the post-holder will have a post-
graduate clinical qualification or equivalent experience. Independent
prescriber status is desirable or the ability to become an independent
prescriber (as legislation allows).
A suitably qualified post-holder may provide research supervision. The post
holder will have the opportunity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate
students undertaking project work and to participate in research (or
development) activities in the School.
Please note this is a part time position and is fixed term for 36 months.
Starting salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
Informal enquiries prior to application may be made to Dr Jon Silcock on 01274
236624 or to e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please upload a curriculum vitae with your application.
