Department of Cognitive Neuropsychology The Department of Cognitive Neuropsychology of Tilburg University consists of a vibrant mix of people interested in cognitive and clinical neuropsychology. The Department of Cognitive Neuropsychology is an intellectually exciting and productive group, advancing fundamental understanding in the cognitive neuroscience and clinical neuropsychology. The research of the department is highly recognized both nationally and internationally. There is a strong ongoing collaboration with the departments of Neurology & Neurosurgery of the Elisabeth Hospital in Tilburg. Conjoint projects focus on cognitive impairments in patients with various neurological diseases such as stroke and brain tumours. There is access to a state-of-the-art MR scanner with functional neuroimaging capabilities.

We are looking for an: Assistant Professor in Clinical or Cognitive Neuropsychology (0,8-1,0) with a focus on education

Members of the Department of Cognitive Neuropsychology supervise students and teach a variety of modules at both Bachelors' and Masters' level and participate in the two-year Research Master Medical Psychology, covering a variety of significant topics from the neurosciences.

The Assistant Professor will work in the area of the Clinical or Cognitive Neuropsychology, and will conduct research (20% of the workload) and education (80% of the workload). The tasks are:

  • Conducting empirical research in developmental or clinical neuropsychology
  • Writing and publishing articles,
  • Teaching courses (in Dutch or English) in the Neurosciences or other courses offered by the department, on the BSc and MSc level,
  • Supervising individual student projects at BSc - and MSc -level.
  • Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Psychology, (bio)medical sciences, or related areas,
  • Background in neuropsychology,
  • Interest in functional neuroimaging (fMRI, resting state, connectivity),
  • Passionate researcher/teacher,
  • High-quality publications in scientific journals,
  • Successfully applied for grants,
  • Experience and affinity with teaching in the area of Neurosciences,
  • Profound knowledge of English and Dutch,
  • Team player
  • We expect the candidate to take courses to acquire the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ, in Dutch: BKO).

    Terms of employment We offer an employment contract for 18 months preferably starting in April 2022 during which you should show your competence in research and education. After a positive assessment of your performance this will be converted into a permanent contract. Depending on the candidates' experience, the full-time salary for the position of an Assistant Professor on a full-time basis ranges between €3.821 and €5.230 gross per month based on scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) Dutch Universities. The university will apply for such an allowance on their behalf. The university offers very good fringe benefits, such as an options model for terms and conditions of employment and excellent reimbursement of moving expenses. Researchers from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary.
