Job description

We are an innovative and bold University Group that is breaking new ground in how to achieve excellence in higher education and research, evidenced by our ever-increasing positions in sector wide rankings.

The Faculty of Business and Law is home to over 7000 students enrolled on undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes across a broad variety of academic areas, along with over 400 staff from a rich diversity of cultural and subject backgrounds. The Faculty has invested heavily in facilities to enhance students' learning experiences. These include a state-of-the-art DigiComm Lab equipped with the latest industry standard software and hardware, a replica court room, Trading Floor with 42 Bloomberg terminals and a Strategy Lab; each offering hands-on opportunities to develop and apply the learning.

The Faculty's globally recognised, accredited Coventry Business School incorporates the subsidiary School of Economics, Finance and Accounting. It is here we are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated Assistant Professor in Accounting to help sustain the School's creative goals and growth plans.

Joining the School of Economics, Finance and Accounting, the successful candidate will take the lead in programme management, curriculum design and pedagogic enhancements, and be part of a creative and committed team delivering our accounting courses. You will have the opportunity to benefit from a supportive research infrastructure. There will also be opportunities to become involved with the development and delivery of our CPD and executive education courses, and to contribute to internationalisation activities.

You will be responsible for the design, enhancement and organisation of teaching and learning in Accounting, you will also take responsibility for curriculum development, and the student experience more broadly, as course director. With experience in teaching in a similar environment you will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of your area of specialisation and will ensure that the teaching for which you are responsible is informed by contemporary research in the relevant field developing the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking.

Applicants will need a PhD or equivalent (if from professional practice background) in an accounting focused subject and recent teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of publications in the relevant field and/or can demonstrate impact and contribution to practice. Your profile and ability to network and develop partnerships with external organisations will be relevant to further enhance the school's reputation and profile.

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything you do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of your area of specialisation. As one of Coventry's biggest employers we will provide an excellent benefits package.

A career at Coventry University offers you opportunities for personal and professional growth and a home in the heart of the UK with connections and reach to the rest of the world.
