Bridgewater State University's (BSU) Department of Music seeks a full-time, tenure-track choral-focused faculty member for Fall 2024. BSU is NASM accredited; our program provides students with a solid foundation in music history, theory, and performance within a liberal arts context. The department offers a BA in Music, a BA in Music Education, undergraduate concentrations in Performance, Jazz, and Pre-Music Therapy, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching (Music) and has approximately sixty undergraduate students, ten graduate students, four full time faculty members, and thirty part time faculty members. The department also offers minors in music, audio production, and world music. The music program strives to create a focus on social justice and equity through introducing and exposing students to diverse music and musicians with the support of grants and initiatives from within the university as well as partnering with the area community and schools.

Essential Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to direct the department's large choral ensemble, vocal chamber ensemble, teach choral method pedagogy and graduate choral conducting courses, and teach music theory or music history courses to both majors and nonmajors. Bridgewater State University has a 4-4 teaching responsibility. Faculty are expected to maintain a research and creative presence in their field, engage in departmental and university service, and advise music majors. Additionally, the successful candidate will also be expected to expand on existing strong relationships with area K-12 schools and participate in recruitment efforts.
Required Qualifications
Doctorate in Music required by September 1, 2024.
Experience directing choirs at the high school or collegiate level.
Experience teaching collegiate, or intermediate-level music history OR music theory (AP level).
Preferred Qualifications
Secondary degree in music history or music theory; or experience teaching music history or music theory at the collegiate level.
Extensive experience building choral programs.
Experience with recruitment for music departments.
