Position Title Assistant Professor: Curriculum and Instruction

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the preparation of
pre-service teachers at the undergraduate level (elementary and secondary),
as well as those individuals on temporary/probationary certification status
seeking initial teacher certification. Additional teaching and preparation
responsibilities may be at the graduate level and include other school
professionals. Engage teacher candidates at the on-campus Inclusive Childcare
Lab & Diagnostic Center locations; provide unit and university service; advise
students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; serve as Field
Experience Coordinator for elementary and secondary teacher education clinical
experiences in the unit. Engage in other related duties deemed necessary to
support the unit and institution.
The candidate should have an earned doctorate in in Curriculum and Instruction
or related field from an NCATE/CAEP accredited institution with a minimum of
three or more years working with K-6 children and parents. This appointee
should have some record of scholarly work, knowledge of current trends in
state and national education policy, as well as a demonstrated commitment to
inclusivity and diversity.
Knowledgeable of best practices, such as Danielson Framework, Experience with
online platforms, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Blackboard.
Desired qualifications outside of Teaching, include experience in successful
grant writing and management or experience related to seeking external funding
and proven leadership skills in unit accreditation efforts. Additional
preferred qualifications include mastery of technology skills related to
productivity and instruction and be prepared to teach in traditional and non-
traditional formats and settings such as of campus, online and through other
videoconferencing technology (e.g. Zoom).
Demonstrated understanding of and work in the areas of social justice in
education, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), STEM education and Growth
Mindset; Experience with program/curriculum development; Knowledgeable of
virtual reality platforms (e.g., Mursion); Strong research agenda and
experience with external funding (grants and contracts) related to
elementary and secondary education.

certification. Additional teaching and preparation responsibilities may be at

candidate will also serve as the Field Experience Coordinator for elementary
and secondary clinical experiences in the unit.
