Description

The Criminal Justice Program at the University of Houston-Downtown seeks dynamic candidates to fill up to two (2) positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.

Required teaching and scholarly interests are open. Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching interests in the areas of policing, criminal courts, corrections, or a combination thereof. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to teach in multiple modalities (face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid). Additionally, the selected individual(s) will be committed to providing institutional (university, college, and department) and community service, and with historically underrepresented populations.

Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a related discipline by the time of hire (a Juris Doctorate alone will not suffice as a terminal degree for this position)
  • An established research record and/or agenda
  • A strong interest in teaching existing courses as well as expanding the criminal justice course offerings of the department
  • Demonstrable experience and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups
