Job Description Summary

The University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in its Online Masters level Clinical Mental Health Counseling program beginning Fall 2022.

Essential Duties

This position requires development and teaching of online/distance courses. In addition, faculty will be responsible for maintaining scholarly activity and service for the program, university, profession, and community.

Specific Duties

Develop and teach core graduate courses in the CMHC program, to include online skills courses.

Engage in scholarly and professional activities, along with attending workshops and meetings consistent with professional and scholarly development.

Participate in the admissions process and work cooperatively with the office of admissions to ensure a high-quality student body.

Perform other university and departmental duties as expected of all faculty, including serving on committees, attending meetings, and engaging in community service.

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Educational qualifications will be a Doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Academic Programs (CACREP).

Candidate must have experience teaching through distance education particularly experience with using virtual synchronous classrooms.

Candidate must be a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Mental Health Counselor prior to the start date.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with any of the following certifications are preferred: Approved Clinical Supervisor, Board Certified Telemental Health, and/or National Certified Addiction Counselor or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Other preferred qualifications include recent scholarly activity, service to the profession and community, and experience teaching counseling skills courses online through synchronous modalities.

Official transcripts and a copy of one's license(s)/certifications will be required prior to an on-campus interview. The successful candidate will also have to complete a background investigation as a condition of employment. In addition to a cover letter, curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, teaching philosophy, and professional licenses/certifications, applicant must provide the name, telephone number, and email address for three professional references. Student evaluations are required. Position is dependent upon funding and enrollment.

Background Clearances

In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.

Appointment is provisional provided the “Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form” and verification of your three background checks are returned to the Human Resource office prior to your hire date.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)

The Lock Haven University's Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report are now available on-line or in paper form by request. Federal law requires these reports to contain policy statements, crime and fire safety statistics for the university.
