The Department of Engineering Technology in the University of Houston's College of Technology at is seeking to fill one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Biotechnology program starting Fall 2022. Successful candidates are expected to develop a front rank, competitive, independent research program. Areas of interest include nutraceuticals and therapeutic products development, food chemistry, detecting food borne pathogens, microbial food processing, nanozymes, protein engineering and synthesis, application of omics to improve food safety, food quality and nutrition. We especially seek applicants whose research disciplines synergize existing faculty expertise and foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

Our ATMAE accredited Biotechnology program is amongst the top 5 in the nation, with a research emphasis in industrial and therapeutic product development from microorganisms and plants. The biotechnology program is housed in a new College of Technology building in Sugar Land with state-of-art teaching and laboratory facilities. Our program offers BS and MS degrees and has experienced steady growth in student enrollment since its inception in 2009, and currently serves approximately 500 students. We are looking for highly dedicated scholars, researchers, and teachers to help us create and prepare the talent for the future's technologists, engineers, scientists, and business leaders for a lifetime career of innovation, economic development, and workforce creation. Qualifications

:

A Ph.D. degree in biotechnology, bioengineering, or related life sciences and postdoctoral and/or industry experience is required. The department is seeking outstanding candidates with at least 5-10 years of industrial and/or academic research experience and a track record of high impact publications. Candidates should demonstrate potential for exceptional research, evidence of successful grant writing, excellence in teaching, and a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, graduate, and undergraduate student population.
