Assistant Professor, Biology - Anatomy and Physiology

Description

The University of Houston-Clear Lake seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure- track Assistant Professor of Biology - Anatomy and Physiology position, beginning as early as Fall 2023. This position has a normal teaching load of nine credit hours per semester, comprised of undergraduate and graduate courses.

Duties:

  • Teach and develop other undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) courses within his/her specialization area to meet the needs of the Biology program.
  • Develop and maintain an independent and active research program.
  • Advise master's level graduate students on theses and projects as well as supervise undergraduate student research.
  • Provide service to the profession, university and program.

    • Qualifications

    Required:

  • Doctorate degree in Biology or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching across the various areas of Biology.
  • Demonstrated experience developing appropriate externally funded and publishable research studies.
  • Ability to teach effectively, including in an active learning environment with some focus on theoretical and applied knowledge of experimental Biology.
  • Ability to establish a research program that will engage UHCL undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty in Biology and other disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to engage a diverse student body in and out of the classroom.

    • Desired:

    Doctoral degree in the field of Anatomy and Physiology.

    Teaching and research experience in the areas of human/mammalian/vertebrate anatomy, physiology, or other medically oriented fields.

    Postdoctoral experience and a demonstrated record of teaching excellence.

    Practical experience with industry or government.
