    The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

    Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in humanities or social sciences within the field of sociology or a degree in another scientific discipline within the field of social sciences or humanities.
  • Well-defined scientific development plan.
  • Fluency in English, at least B2+ level confirmed by a certificate or other documents.
  • Scientific achievements in the field of social sciences, including the following: 4.1. authorship or co-authorship of articles published in the journals indexed in the international databases Scopus, Web of Science, ERIH+ or DOAJ, 4.2. authorship or co-authorship of scientific monographs, book chapters or edited volumes published by publishers from the valid list of publishing houses of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW)/Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN) (2nd level), 4.3. authorship or co-authorship of a scientific monograph published by publishers from the valid list of publishing houses of the MNiSW/MEiN (1st level), 4.4. authorship or co-authorship of articles published in the journals from the current list of journals of the MNiSW/MEiN, 4.5. authorship or co-authorship of book chapters published by publishers from the valid list of publishing houses of the MNiSW/MEiN.

  • The minimum condition of participation in the competition is to have at least one publication listed in points 4.1-4.2 and, in addition, at least two other publications listed in points 4.1-4.5. Preference will be given to candidates with achievements in the field of sociology carried out in the department, for which the competition is announced.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with documented participation as a project leader or contractor in research or educational projects carried out by higher education institutions, financed by domestic or foreign institutions in open competition proceedings.
  • Additional advantages are :

  • Proficiency in Polish (or a written declaration of readiness to master this language at least at B2 level certified by an examination within two years of employment) and proficiency in English to the extent necessary to teach in that language.
  • Knowledge of a modern foreign language other than English on a level allowing cooperation with partners in research and teaching projects.
  • Competencies to teach subjects in sociology, economic sociology, sociology of disposition groups or social work documented with previous teaching experience or publications.
  • Research internship or employment in foreign scientific or teaching institutions for at least three months.
  • Participation with a paper in foreign or international scientific conferences.
  • Scientific achievements in the form of publications listed in point 4 published within the last four years.
  • Responsibilities

  • Conducting research.
  • Preparing scientific publications for high-ranked journals and prestigious publishing houses.
  • Applying for internal and external (including international) research grants.
  • Applying for foreign scientific fellowships.
  • Conducting classes with students of the first and second degree as well as students of the Doctoral School (also in English).
  • Establishing and maintaining contacts with scientific centres abroad.
  • The application for the competition should include

  • A statement that should the candidate win the competition, the University of Wrocław will be his/her primary employment and should the candidate be employed (download Workplace Statement).
  • A declaration on the inclusion to the discipline in which the candidate will conduct research and, in the case of candidates conducting research in more than one discipline, the percentage of working time in each of those disciplines (download Declaration of scientific discipline).
  • A self-report containing a description of the candidate's scientific activity, degree of internationalisation, organisational activities and teaching activities.
  • A list of the candidate's publications for a period not longer than 10 years.
  • Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers to be representative of his/her scientific achievements or an explanation of their absence.
  • An application for employment addressed to the Rector.
  • In connection with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. The Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration - Article 113).
