    announces an open call for the post of the Assistant Professor in the group of research-didactic employees

    Applications to the open call may be submitted by those who meet the conditions specified in Section 113 of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Law 2021 item 478, as amended)

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • conducting scientific research,
  • conducting classes in the 1st cycle or 2nd cycle studies for the History and Historical Tourism programme,
  • realization of the annual teaching load in the amount of 210 hours,
  • realization of organizational tasks in accordance with the Individual Assignment of Duties.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

    The conditions necessary for the recruitment of the candidate selected in the selection proceedings are the fulfilment of the obligations arising from Section 265(4), (5), (13) of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Law 2020 item 85, as amended).

    In the case of applying for employment at the University of Silesia in Katowice as the primary place of work, candidates employed in other higher education institutions as their primary place of work, should, as of the day of their employment, fulfil the requirement defined in Section 120 of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478, as amended), according to which an academic may have only one primary place of work at a time.

    In the case of foreign candidates whose diplomas on the award of a professional title/scientific degree/scientific title require authentication according to the law in force in the Republic of Poland, employment is possible only after completing the procedure of authentication of the diploma.

    Skills/Qualifications

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • minimum PhD degree in humanities,
  • experience in conducting research in the discipline of history in the area of General history (1918-1945) ,
  • recent, high-scoring scientific achievement in the abovementioned discipline published in journals and publishing houses included in the list of the Ministry of Education and Science of which the candidate is the 1st author or a correspondence author,
  • competences that allow for internationalization of the research activity,
  • experience in realization or acquiring research projects/grants funded nationally or by foreign institutions,
  • documented history of applying for financing of research in the institutions in the candidate's country or in foreign institutions,
  • documented scientific internship in the candidate's country or abroad (minimum 1 month),
  • knowledge of research methods including the discipline of history in the scope of general history 1918-1945,
  • experience in conducting classes in the higher education facility/ in the 1st cycle and 2nd cycle studies in the discipline of history,
  • ability to conduct classes using the tools for distance learning,
  • documented didactic mobility,
  • knowledge of English that allows for conducting classes,
  • knowledge of Polish that allows for conducting classes or readiness to learn Polish (in the case of foreign candidates).
