Position Number: 102560Position Title (Classification Title): Assistant Professor, 102560 Working Title: Assistant Professor - Genetics Job Summary: The Department of Biology at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting August 2024. . We welcome qualified applicants who will be earning their Ph.D. prior to the appointment date. Our faculty are active teacher-scholars who value collaborations both within and across disciplines. The department seeks applicants who will engage in student mentorship and innovative course design that incorporates research-based curriculum using welcoming and equitable strategies. Responsibilities include the standard teaching load at the undergraduate or graduate level of three courses, lecture and/or lab sections, per semester possibly including, but not limited to: Biology I, Genetics and Genetics Lab, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or other related courses in the faculty member's discipline. This position is expected to establish an active research program that involves graduate and undergraduate students supported by external funding. Department Biology FLSA: Exempt Position Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in genetics or a related field that will complement the department's research programs and mission. Doctoral degree by the time of appointment in Genetics or closely related discipline from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
