Job Description

BU's Department of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance is all about building a fun and fit community! As the Assistant Manager of Member Services, you will assist the Manager with the day-to-day operation of all facilities and services overseen and offered by the Department. As part of the Facility Management Team, this position is primarily responsible for the management of the Pro Shop as well as hiring, training, and oversight of a large student staff. Manage daily operations of the Pro Shop at the Fitness and Recreation Center, including the administration of the locker and towel rental program (approximately $250K in business annually).

Duties include development of sales, operations and budget strategies, meeting revenue goals, researching market trends, merchandising, negotiating with vendors, reporting and data analysis. Arrange work schedule in conjunction with Facility Management Team in order to effectively supervise day to day operations of the Fitness and Recreation Center, including non-traditional hours such as mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Support FitRec full and part-time staff with various daily programming needs. Ensure patron safety and security through the enforcement of facility rules and adherence to building emergency and/or evacuation procedures. As manager on duty, support all student staff in the facility with an emphasis on safety, security and customer service. Required Skills

  • B.A./B.S., Masters Degree preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Two to three years of related work experience
