Assistant Librarian II (PR0425/22-23)
The University Library (library.hkbu.edu.hk) now seeks an Assistant Librarian II to serve on the Information Services team of its User and Information Services Cluster. Reporting to the Cluster Head, a key responsibility of the appointee will be to serve as the Liaison Librarian for the School of Communication and the School of Creative Arts. The appointee will also provide high-quality instructional and research consultation services to the University community in a variety of modes.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure excellent communication and outreach to faculty members and administrators in his/her liaison areas; • Assist the Head of User and Information Services in developing and enhancing information literacy programmes and activities; • Provide high-quality instructional, research, and reference services both in person and online; • Assist in supervising supporting staff of the User and Information Services Cluster; and • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
Applicants should have (i) a good university degree plus a recognized professional qualification in library and information science (MLIS or equivalent); (ii) at least 3 years' relevant experience, preferably in an academic library setting; (iii) current knowledge of academic library resources, systems, services, and trends; (iv) strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders within and outside of the Library; and (v) excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
Background/experience in the creative arts, music, interactive media, communication, and/or journalism is not required but would be advantageous.
Reference salary range: HK$41,810 - HK$66,840
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
