The Role
The Assistant Facilitator/Curriculum Developer will support: • running Tech-LINC workshops for LINC teachers who wish to upgrade their online teaching skills and use of technology in the LINC classroom.
• writing a facilitator's guide and tool kit for LINC teachers across Canada who wish to adopt the practices of Douglas College's LINC Co-Design program for newcomers with low English and technology skills.
Responsibilities
• Assist in writing Facilitator's Guide/Tool Kit for LINC CoDesign • Co-facilitate Tech-LINC workshops for technology- shy LINC teachers • Support researchers in data collection and reporting. • Identify and contribute to materials collection stored according to Douglas College Records Information Management (RIM) requirements. • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting as required.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
• Undergraduate degree and Teaching English as a Second Language qualifications equivalent to TESL Canada standard 1. • Some classroom experience, including online experience. • Experience working with newcomers, including knowledge and understanding of their capacities and anxieties and an awareness of trauma-informed approaches to settlement. • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of digital hardware and software, including platforms for online delivery, apps and programs relevant to education, language learning, work, and settlement. • Knowledge of LINC. • Ability to guide, support and challenge participants, while giving them autonomy and control. • Strong organizational skills and solid classroom management skills. • Demonstrated ability in identifying and addressing client needs. • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team with capacity to take initiative and easily adapt to change. • Strong interpersonal and exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills. • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check. A criminal record will not automatically result in your application for employment being denied. • A vehicle and valid B.C. Driver's license or reliable alternative transportation.
