Essential Job Duties
Act as the secondary instructor/expert for the marching band drumlines. The
percussion instructor will work with the Director of Bands, Head Drumline
Instructor, staff, and students to assure a successful experience for all
involved. These efforts are accomplished through band camp, class rehearsals,
sectionals, and performances. The assistant percussion instructor shall
enforce and adhere to the policies, rules, and guidelines of the band, music
department, and university and be responsible for all elements of running the
drumline program during marching band season. Essential Functions include :
1. Attend band camps, rehearsals, performances, and actively participate in
instructing students in sectional and whole group rehearsals.
2. Teach drumline basics to the secondary drumline (marching techniques,
musicality, rhythmic understanding, etc.)
3. Assign appropriate responsibilities and equipment to students.
4. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Bands and/or Head Drumline
Instructor that will provide for a successful program.

Requirements and Preferences
Work Schedule Availability from early August to late November/early
December, including two rehearsals each week (MW 3:40p-5:20p), sectionals,
and 4+ home football games. Includes some weekends and evenings.
Assisting Head Drumline Instructor with pre-season audition process
Must have experience as a performing member and/or teacher of marching band
percussion (DCI/WGI experience preferred)

Minimum of two years of teaching experience, coaching, or leading marching
band percussion at a competitive and/or college level.
