Job Purpose
The Assistant Director of Student Success and Retention is responsible for
developing, administering, managing, and coordinating academic advising
programs and services in the Student Success Center. The Assistant Director
chairs the College-wide KCKCC Advising Council and leads the efforts toward
establishing practical guided pathway advising practices and other assigned
retention services to support students from admission to completion.
The Student Success Center is a department within the Division of Student
Affairs and Enrollment Management (SAEM). Reporting to the Director of
Student Success and Retention, the Assistant Director ensures the high-quality
execution and administration of customer service, business processes, and
project management with colleagues across the College to support KCKCC's
mission and strategic priorities related to enrollment management, student
success, and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all students.
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Director, develop and implement office
policies, procedures, and data processing and technology that support
influential academic and guided pathways advising processes in alignment
with the strategic priorities and goals of the College and Student Success
Center.
Develop and execute policies, procedures, and data processing and
technology that support student completion strategic priorities and goals
for the College.
Lead and coordinate KCKCC's Advising Council, ensuring high-impact
practices for student completion and success.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating academic
advising policies and procedures for Student Success Advisors and academic
departmental advisors.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating the day-to-day
functional administration of retention services, including CRM ADVISE and
Maxient Conduct, in collaboration with divisional leadership, information
technology, and other College partners.
Responsible for the development, coordination, assessment, and execution
of student support services and programs aligned with the strategic
priorities of the College and high-impact practices that support degree
progression and student success.
Represent the Director in meetings/events and oversee operations when
needed.
Keep abreast of national trends by attending workshops and conferences,
maintaining appropriate memberships, and other professional development
opportunities.
As assigned, liaise with national, regional, state, and local
organizations promoting best practices in student completion and guided
pathways advising services.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Student Success Center and
Retention and the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management aligned with College and SAEM strategic priorities and goals.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Position Qualifications and/or Education
Minimum Qualifications and/or Education
Master's degree in education, counseling, student development, social
work, or related field.
Two (2) years of experience in academic advising, counseling, or related
area.
Preferred Qualifications and/or Education
Demonstrated ability to communicate information to diverse personnel at
various organizational levels.
Demonstrated record of analyzing and synthesizing large amounts of data
for preparing sound and relevant proposals.
Demonstrated record of experience with Ellucian student information
systems, Maxient Conduct, or comparable systems.
Experience within a higher education institution working with a student
population with a highly diverse, first-generation, and financially
fragile population.
Demonstrated understanding of guided pathways principles and holistic
student support design.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required
to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job,
the employee may occasionally push or lift items.
Work Schedule
Assigned 40 hours per week, during Admissions regular hours of
Monday–Thursday, 8:00am–6:00pm and Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Must be able to work
variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and
weekend hours, frequent travel, and must be able to work evening and weekend
hours when required.
