Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Residential Life reports to the Director of
Residential Life and is accountable for assisting the Director with ensuring a
safe and attractive living area for students which is conducive to
intellectual, social, and personal growth. The Office of Residential Life,
which this position is part of, provides programs that meet the educational,
cultural, and recreational needs of students; provides support, counseling,
and referral services; and promotes student responsibility, accountability,
and leadership experiences. This is a 12-month, full-time position.
This position will require the ability to work some nights and weekends.

Principal Accountabilities
Provide support to the Director of Residence Life with the activities
required to ensure a proper, safe, and clean living environment for
resident students through the supervision of professional and resident
assistant staff, facilities management, and liaison with other
departments.
Provide department representation on various committees, professional
organizations, and at major events (e.g., Admitted Student Day,
Orientation, Welcome Weekend, Spring Weekend, etc.)
Serve as an administrator-on-call for the Residential Life Office.
Directly supervise three community directors and assist in the
recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of Residential Life
professional staff and RAs. Manage the overall housing operation including
incoming student housing assignments, returning student housing lottery,
winter session and summer school housing, facilitation of the opening and
closing of Residence Halls, early arrivals, damage assessment, billing
process, maintenance and updates of housing software and oversight of the
card access system. Maintain accurate records and files associated with
campus housing.
Oversee the room change process, housing waitlist and resolve housing
assignment issues with students and family members.
Collaborate with the Office of Accessibility and Director of Residential
Life on the accommodations process.
Maintain the department website ensuring that all information is correct
and up to date.
Oversee branding of departmental communications. Edit and proofread all
departmental communication ensuring that emails and posters are free of
grammatical errors and use the correct branding and terminology. Design
and edit departmental brochures. Edit and proofread all department letters
including RA hiring, housing selection and move-in/move-out information.
Maintain a detailed knowledge of University policies and procedures
related to residential life and collaborate with others to ensure that
these are communicated effectively to resident students and the campus
community.
Operate as the Residential Life liaison for transfer students and their
parents.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS: Best served by a person with:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in student affairs administration.
Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education
Administration, Counseling, or related field.
