Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Fan Engagement will lead departmental efforts for fan experience initiatives at Sacred Heart ice hockey games. This person will be a main driver in giving our fans a one-of-a-kind experience at the Martire Family Arena. This position works crossfunctionally and reports to the Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing with a focus coordinating and executing marketing plans for men's & women's ice hockey, which are designed to meet the department's goals for revenue and attendance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate and ideate with other members of the External team to create unforgettable moments for our fans at the Martire Family Arena.
  • Primary contact for ice hockey fan engagement, include planning and executing event presentation activities such as writing game scripts and timelines as well as supervising game day staff.
  • Work closely with our In-Venue Team to create and execute all script elements of assigned sports; to continually enhance the fan experience at Sacred Heart Athletics ice hockey home games.
  • Develop and execute student promotions, and giveaways, to increase game day experience.
  • Oversight of Big Red, the SHU athletics mascot, for home games.
  • Work with the assistant director of marketing to implement and execute game-night themes to increase revenue, fan engagement and attendance.
  • Arrange for in game and warm up house music.
  • Oversee student intern on game day in addition to overseeing assignments for game presentation, fan experience and community and campus engagement.

  • Requirements:

    Knowledge and Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree with related experience in fan engagement, marketing or similar field.
  • Significant experience working in a marketing and promotions atmosphere.
  • Experience developing written marketing and promotions plans and coordinating special events.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar computer programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
