Job Description:

Bellarmine University is seeking an Assistant Director of Development, Annual Fund. This position will report to the Senior Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship and function as a member of the Development and Alumni Relations team. The Assistant Director will contribute to the overall strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive, multi-channel annual giving program. This includes program administration, management of vendor relationships and their delivered tools. The Assistant Director will:

  • Lead projects to include, but not limited to, Annual Day of Giving, Faculty & Staff Giving Campaign, Giving Tuesday, Young Alumni Campaign, and other various fundraising initiatives
  • Assess and identify Annual Giving prospects for retention, renewal, and upgrades with special focus on Giving Society levels of $1,500 - $50,000
  • Manage multiple vendors and work with campus partners including an in- house copywriter and graphic designer to bring projects to completion
  • Work with Advancement Services to generate mailing lists and data analysis reports
  • Support and effectively communicate the mission of Bellarmine University
  • Act as the primary content writer for donor communication and grant proposals
  • Ensure effective constituent stewardship and donor relations through various communication channels including phone, email, direct mail, and personal visits.
  • Collaborate with Marketing department and act as the content manager of the annual giving web pages and all printed materials
  • Manage Annual Fund calendar and ensure timely completion of projects and priorities, anticipate needs in advance to meet required deadlines
  • Participate in events and programs in support of development activities
  • Specific assignments may vary from time to time, and other duties may be assigned
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years experience working in higher education or nonprofit environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles with ability to maintain a professional demeanor
  • Self-motivated with the ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Maintain an extremely high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and experience working with donor databases
  • Experience with grant writing and foundation requests preferred
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed
