General Summary

The Department of Athletics at Indiana Tech serves as an integral part of the university and is an important participant in its mission. The commitment of the Department of Athletics is to enhance the student experience and to provide quality programs that are competitive, fun, and meaningful in an atmosphere that promotes success within the spirit of fair play, sportsmanship, and integrity.

The Assistant AD will coordinate and execute measures, along with the head coaches, to monitor the academic success of student-athletes with a focus on eligibility, retention, and graduation. Although focused on all student- athletes, the position will give extra attention to the following subgroups: JV roster students, academic probation and low-performing students, and rising seniors.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Academic Success

  • Serve the Department with primary administrative oversight of head coaches and the commitment to all student-athlete academic programming and progress, including but not limited to:
  • Execute and coordinate athletic enrollment and retention monitoring, tracking, and intervention
  • Oversee coach-driven communication and initiatives for study tables and tutoring services
  • Monitor progress toward degree and graduation planning
  • Advise students for the transition to graduate and graduate certificate programs
  • Conduct term-by-term eligibility review with the Assoc AD for Compliance and Administration
  • Coordinate Chi Alpha Sigma honor society
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Success, attending OSS staff meetings as a “dotted line” member of the team. Serve as a liaison to OSS and others on eligibility minimums and NAIA or ACHA requirements
  • Serve on Committees related to Student Academic Success and Academic Affairs related but not limited to:
  • Balance of online vs. traditional academic programming
  • Development of programs to align with current and future enrollment goals
  • Senior Women Leader

  • Serve the Department with primary administrative oversight of head coaches and the commitment to all student-athlete academic programming and progress, including but not limited to
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the area of Title IX and gender equity planning
  • Develop Student-Athlete Well-Being and Experience reports with data collected from interviews and relevant surveys.
  • Hall of Fame and Student Athlete Awards Banquet Coordinator
  • Sport oversight and site supervising as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Measures of Accomplishment

  • Collaborate with supervisor to determine short- and long-term goals of the position.
  • Improved Retention and graduation rates, specifically for JV students
  • Department of Athletics and team-by-team term and overall GPA improvements
  • Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.

    Experience

    5+ years of college coaching and/or administration within a collegiate setting preferred.

    Working Conditions

    Work is primarily conducted in an office environment, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to assist with athletic department events. Limited travel and moderate physical work required.
