Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
The Assistant Director of Admissions – Recruitment is responsible for
meeting targeted growth goals among undergraduate recruitment by representing
and marketing Lamar University to prospective students through supervision of
assigned staff and managing an individual caseload. The Assistant Director
directs the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of student
recruitment and yield activities.
What You'll Do – Position Duties
As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through
accomplishment of the following responsibilities:
Supervise assigned team of Admissions Counselors
Promotes an undergraduate recruitment strategy, including feedback on an
annual recruitment plan that is aligned to overall goals of Lamar
University within assigned recruitment territory.
Assess prospective first year and transfer student experience in order to
positively improve it for those in the college search, application, and
enrollment processes.
Recommends opportunities to enhance marketing and student services from
inquiry through orientation to ensure that a diverse student body is
attracted and enrolled.
Provides and analyzes information in the Student Information System
(Banner) and Customer Relationship Management (Slate) system for
management purposes by producing reports as needed.
Responsible for team's successful results while promoting team dynamics
through active participation and leadership
Collaborates with leadership team to determine yearly and intermittent
goals/objectives are designed, measured and effectively lead
Identifies skill gaps and works with employees to identify remedies and
sponsor successful application of those remedies
Collaborates with Admissions Counselors and leadership to ensure
operational activities within the admission office are streamlined and
productive
Maintains competency and professional currency through self-directed
professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues,
attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or
courses as requested by office leadership
Assists with the planning and execution of special programs and projects
Stay abreast of campus events, current happenings, news items, research
and other items deemed important.
Preforms all other essential duties as assigned.
Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional
basis to respond to needs of the university.

Minimum Qualifications
What You'll Need to Succeed – Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
2 to 3 years of progressive recruitment/admission and/or higher education
experience required.
Ability to travel and work a varied schedule with flexible hours including
some weekends and evenings.
