University Theatre : Since 1964, University Theatre has been NC State's open access theatre company serving the entire student body. Under the direction of a full-time professional staff, we produce six major shows each season: three in the Producing Series, one in the Studio Series and two in the summer TheatreFEST series.
University Theatre offers a blend of volunteer student productions and theatre training. Productions are open to all NC State students, regardless of major or whether or not they are enrolled in theatre courses.

Essential Job Duties
As a senior member of the producing team at University Theatre, this role reports directly to the Director of University Theatre and is responsible for overseeing lighting, sound, and projection for six to eight productions each year.
The main production duties include collaborating with resident directors and designers to create lighting, sound, and projection designs, executing the designs, managing hang/focus sessions, tech and strikes, supervising and advising student technicians and designers, managing the lighting/sound/projection shop and budget, teaching and supervising student production crews, attending production and design meetings, and maintaining programmatic lighting/sound/projection equipment. The role also involves recruiting, engaging, and mentoring student volunteers and/or employees for production and shop needs.
This position will teach the lighting/sound portion of University Theatre's academic course Stage Craft (THE 233) as well as workshops, masterclasses, and other non-credit bearing activities.
Other duties include participating in title and programming selection with senior staff, participating in recruiting events, advising on theatre technology systems within the performing arts facilities, making necessary purchases and arrangements for loans and rentals, coordinating with the event operations manager on space and equipment use with outside users, attending staff, production, and committee meetings as assigned or necessary, and participating in departmental planning, instructional assessment, and other activities. Opportunities to lead other areas as qualified e.g. direct, scenic, costume, playwright, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience
MFA (or equivalent degree) in theatre OR a bachelor's degree with alternative equivalent professional professional training and experience in lighting and sound design, which may be considered on an exceptional basis in place of an advanced degree.
