    Applications are invited from those who fulfil the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act from 20th July 2018 (Dz. U. z 2018 r., poz. 1668) and the statutes of the University of Wroclaw.

    Requirements:

  • Fluency in Polish, spoken and written.
  • English language competencies at a level corresponding to at least B2.
  • Master's degree in biological sciences, recognized in Poland.
  • Proven experience working as a natural history museum curator on large scientific collections of insects.
  • Documented scientific achievements in journals indexed on the Thomson Scientific Master Journal List, in the field of entomology (especially coleopterology), including those rated at least 70 points by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in the last five years.
  • Experience in educational work at the university level, as well as conducting classes with schoolchildren.
  • Conducted scientific research must fall within the discipline of biological sciences.
  • Additional advantages for the candidate will be:

  • Using software dedicated to phylogenetic analysis and graphics.
  • Ability to conduct field entomological research in global biodiversity hot spots.
  • Scientific international cooperation with Natural History Museums.
  • Responsibilities

    In the research area

  • Individual research in the field of systematic entomology using the resources of the museum's collection.
  • Participation in team research as part of projects conducted by the Museum of Natural History.
  • Participation in scientific conferences.
  • Curatorial supervision over part of the scientific collection of the Museum of Natural History.
  • In the teaching area

  • Conducting classes for students at the Museum of Natural History and other units at the Faculty of Biological Sciences in Polish and in English.
  • Designing and conducting proprietary subjects extending the educational offer of the Museum of Natural History for students.
  • Supervising students doing their diploma theses and internships.
  • Conducting educational activities for school students as part of museum lessons and other educational programs of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
  • Supervision some of the museum's exhibitions.
  • In the organizational area

  • Involvement in the work of collective bodies and committees within the structure of the University of Wrocław.
  • Participation in the organization of temporary exhibitions and other events for the public.
