The Assistant/Associate Vice President for Marketing will enhance the University's image through marketing and branding functions. Specifically, by providing guidance and direction to marketing and communications staff, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of internal and external marketing and branding activities.

  • Provides guidance and direction to marketing and communications staff, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of internal and external marketing and branding activities
  • Serves as the primary assistant vice president of marketing activities and liaison between the office and the University's colleges, departments and units engaging its marketing services
  • Serves as the brand manager of the university, ensuring all university- wide publications and communications support and incorporate the brand platform
  • Develops and oversees strategies for processing marketing and branding projects and coordinates the branding processes across multiple campus units
  • Ensures the University's brand messaging is consistent across platforms and venues and effectively tailored for relevant audiences
  • Creates marketing campaigns and strategies for the University academic and administrative units, events and programs, and leads efforts of marketing, creative, and digital communications staff across campus to implement an integrated and layered marketing approach
  • Works with outside consultants on branding and marketing projects, particularly recruitment, perception and awareness campaigns
  • Ensures that all campaigns and marketing efforts comply with and support the University's brand and strategic goals
  • Directs marketing, publications, photography, and digital marketing efforts
  • Develops goals and objectives for these activities and works with staff across campus to implement and execute the plan
  • May serve as the University spokesperson and emergency communicator in absence of the VP and AVP for Public Relations
  • Manages a professional staff among the marketing, digital marketing and creatives teams
  • Manages web and digital communications, including supervision of web, digital, and social media professionals
  • Develops goals and objectives, with VP and other senior leadership of the division, for marketing, branding and public relations activities

    Master's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field or a bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field of study and work experience equivalent to a master's degree in the aforementioned fields

  • Considerable knowledge of marketing strategies and tactics
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of best principles and practices in marketing research
  • Demonstrated ability to provide creative direction
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze, implement and communicate data-driven decision making
  • Creative thinking and writing capability as demonstrated by the ability to focus on key issues, gather, assess, and synthesize information and recommendations from a wide variety of sources on a broad range of issues to formulate messaging and positioning statements
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with outside vendors and agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a centralized marketing unit
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in marketing settings in higher education
  • Considerable experience in marketing in a supervisory capacity
  • Advanced degree in marketing or related field
