THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KINGSPORT, TN
Position Summary:
Site Director of the Kingsport student rotation program. Responsible for
contributions to the development, accreditation, and oversight of the
Kingsport Pre-Doctoral Programs activities.
POSITION DUTIES:
Administrative oversight of all facets of the program in Kingsport.
Comprehensive clinical training of students/residents; responsible for patient care.
Maintain a didactic program.
Assure adequate clinical content of the students/residents.
Must engage in full time UTHSC employment to meet benefit qualifications as a state employee.
Promote the mission, vision, and goals of the program.
Participate in and lead community outreach initiatives.
FACULTY ROLE:
Appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor (as appropriate for experience and education)
Non-tenure track (1-year appointment; renewable).
Subject to rights and responsibilities contained in the Faculty Handbook and UTHSC policies.
Job Type: Exempt/Professional, Full Time university employee; 100% effort (as divided between education/research/service).
Professional Liability: State employee protections when working in the course and scope per university policy (see: https//counsel.tennessee.edu/liability/). Note: Activities which are, or can be, billed to patients are outside the course and scope of state employment; the employee must carry personal professional liability insurance , the cost of which may not be directly reimbursed.
Compensation: 100% of compensation is from university employment. Employee must assign to Clinic(s) all rights to compensation for professional services which occur as part of employment or as part of participation in professional activities at Clinic(s) (including services performed by residents but billed under employee's license).
Must enter and maintain in good standing, all contracts required by Clinic.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:
Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Assist the Assistant Dean of Extramural Clinical Affairs and Community Service and other administrators and faculty in special projects as required.
Participate in professional associations.
Maintain and upgrade current professional skills by participating in educational conferences.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be continuously licensed to practice Dentistry in Tennessee. Revocation of or other action restricting the license to practice by the Tennessee Board of Dentistry shall operate as a resignation from UTHSC employment and faculty appointments.
Must be in good standing and maintain contractual relationship with Clinic. Termination of contractual relationship with Clinic, voluntarily or involuntarily, will operate as a resignation from UTHSC employment and faculty appointments.
Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a relatively short time period.
The ability to analyze facts, exercise proper judgement and arrive at valid conclusions.
Ability to endure short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and /or standing in performance of job duties; manual dexterity including coordination of both gross and fine muscular movements, equilibrium, and touch, and including full functioning wrists, hands, fingers, and arms.
Exhibit the highest degree of professionalism including the attributes of integrity, empathy, communication, and motivation, in addition to emotional maturity and stability, sound judgement, punctuality, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to effectively interact with students, residents, faculty, staff and other personnel, as well as patients.
Good computer skills and familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
DDS/DMD
Licensed to practice Dentistry in Tennessee
Completed training in an accredited post-doctoral AEGD
Previous teaching experience in a CODA accredited dental school
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous faculty in an AEGD program.
Clinical patient based private practice experience.
Research experience including publication(s).
Experience in implant dentistry.
10 years' experience with clinical patients.
Extensive knowledge of dental medicine and dental education.
Extensive knowledge of evaluation techniques and methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of past and current trends in dental education.
Extensive knowledge of Restorative Dentistry.
