The faculty of the Education Department in the College of Professional Studies at Our Lady of the Lake University invites applications for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Education (Non-Tenure Track) starting Fall 2022.

Job Description:

We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated educator who wants to become an active member of our team. We offer classes during the day, evening, weekend and online to serve our community.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach face to face and online undergraduate and graduate courses in the program in Literacy, ESL/BIL and/or SPED
  • Supervise practicum and internship students
  • Fulfill service responsibilities to the Education Department, College of Professional Studies, OLLU, and the community
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues in the Department and with community partners
  • Contribute to the profession through professional presentations and professional scholarship
  • Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree in education or related field; must have 18 hours of education at the graduate level in one of the following areas: Literacy, Bilingual, ESL or Special Education. Preference is given to having two of these content areas.
  • Licensed as a teacher in the candidate's respective state
  • At least three years full-time teaching experience in respective content area in elementary, middle or secondary school settings
  • Professional identity as an Educator demonstrated through professional memberships, licenses, certificates, professional development, renewal activities, professional service, advocacy, and research or scholarly activity
  • Graduate level teaching experience,
  • Experience providing clinical supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and social justice
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience working with Hispanic or 1st generation students
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) proficiency or a background in Emergent Bilinguals
  • Demonstrated research agenda with an emphasis on field-based teacher education
  • Experience supervising/mentoring and coaching clinical teachers and/or professional interns including Reading Specialists
  • Experience advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Experience in urban school environments with diverse student populations
  • Experience with performance-based assessments such as edTPA or National Board certification
