The Theater Department at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University–New Brunswick, seeks a dynamic and collaborative colleague for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. This position entails teaching within the department's BFA acting program as well as pursuing creative activity and/or scholarship within the field and contributing service to the department and the school, including involvement in the program's national and international recruitment efforts. Qualified applicants will have professional experience in the field as well as demonstrated teaching success, bringing to the role substantial knowledge of different acting techniques, theatrical repertoire, and current industry trends. The successful candidate will have experience training for on-camera work and/or directing, with preference given to candidates who have experience teaching first-year Meisner progression and who also possess a vision for adapting this technique to meet the needs of the 21st century. The ideal candidate will also bring a demonstrated commitment to furthering efforts toward anti-racism, anti-sexism, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The successful candidate must be able to work creatively and collaboratively with faculty in multiple disciplines across the school as well as with students, staff, and school leadership. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching a range of courses each academic year, advising and mentoring students, directing and/or advising on productions, and assisting with the annual Actor Showcase in accordance with the candidate's areas of expertise.

This position is an academic-year appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor (tenure-track or tenured) with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2022. Minimum Education and Experience

MFA in Acting or equivalent professional experience.

Housed in one of the leading public research universities on the East Coast, the Department of Theater at Mason Gross School of the Arts includes approximately 175 students, 30 full-time faculty and staff, and 30 part-time faculty, offering the Bachelor of Arts degree as well as the Bachelor of Fine Arts with concentrations in Acting, Costume Design, Costume Technology, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Stage Management, and Technical Direction, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Playwrighting.
