The UTRGV SOM is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Internal
Medicine to join our growing department and be faculty for one of our three
established Internal Medicine residency programs in the Rio Grande Valley.
Ideal candidates will be Board Certified physicians in Internal Medicine with
experience in teaching residents both in the inpatient and outpatient clinical
setting and in the classroom.
We are looking for faculty who share our mission: “At the University if Texas

comprehensive medical care and seek to promote the development of academic
medicine within the community we serve. Our mission is to empower our medical
students and physician trainees to cultivate a foundation of evidence-based
medical knowledge and become the healthcare scholars, innovators, and leaders
Faculty will participate in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient
safety and quality improvement initiatives, didactics, evaluation of the
residents and program and preparation for CLER and RRC site visits.
While previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred,
individuals just finishing residency training are highly encouraged to apply.
As faculty, they will also administer and maintain a professional educational
environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies
and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones. Academic rank will
be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials.
MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and licensed in the
State of Texas

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per
and at least 135 days in length.
