The UTRGV SOM is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Internal Medicine to join our growing department and be faculty for one of our three established Internal Medicine residency programs in the Rio Grande Valley. Ideal candidates will be Board Certified physicians in Internal Medicine with experience in teaching residents both in the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting and in the classroom.

Faculty will participate in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, didactics, evaluation of the residents and program and preparation for CLER and RRC site visits.

While previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred, individuals just finishing residency training are highly encouraged to apply.

As faculty, they will also administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials.

Minimum Qualifications

MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and licensed in the State of Texas

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

ACGME training or equivalent and Board Certification

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a GME Accredited Position or Program

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
