    Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, within the Department of Humanities, Health and Society to serve as an epidemiologist in a multidisciplinary research program environment. The department, which houses the Hebert Wertheim's College of Medicine's signature NeighborhoodHELP program, is enhancing its community¿based research programs. In this context, the department is seeking to recruit an energetic epidemiologist with strong methodological skills and previous experience in the design of epidemiologic studies of research data to contribute to the growth of the department's community-based research portfolio addressing the investigation of the interplay of social determinants of health, behaviors, and clinical factors on the quality of life, disease occurrence and progression, and other major health outcomes. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to lead observational and/or intervention research projects involving secondary data analysis of large databases and/or primary data collection. The selected candidate will conduct her/his own research projects, as well as make key contributions to the interdisciplinary research activities led by the department, including the establishment of new cohort studies as the basis for novel prospective evaluations. The selected candidate is expected to develop own and contribute to the department's external funding applications. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Humanities, Health, and Society and/or designated faculty. This position will require travel between FIU's MMC and Biscayne Bay campuses, and to community¿based places where research activities take place.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications include a Master's or Doctoral degree in epidemiology or closely related discipline, including Medicine or Public Health. Must have a proven track¿record of peer¿reviewed publications and scholarly activity, including presentation in major scientific meetings and grant application submissions that demonstrates potential for junior faculty to secure extramurally¿funded research and become an independent investigator. Must demonstrate a strong ability to work collaboratively and interdisciplinary, and to communicate effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse population. Previous experience with multi¿cultural and diverse populations.

    Desired Qualifications

    Preferred qualifications include prior experience with the organization and conduct of community¿based research and proficiency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole.
