    Position description

    The Department of Neurosciences (https:// neurosciences.ucsd.edu/) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and is seeking outstanding faculty for the Epilepsy Division.

    The department provides excellent opportunities for education and other patient care/academic interests with time dedicated to teaching and scholarly activity at one of the nation's top-ranked Medical Schools and one of the most academically productive Departments of Neurosciences in the country.

    The Epilepsy Division has a clinical base at the UCSD hospitals at Hillcrest, La Jolla, and VA San Diego. We are a NAEC Level 4 center. The group's current activities include outpatient epilepsy, inpatient monitoring and a 6-bed EMU, epilepsy surgery, EEG, EPs, and ICU monitoring. The division sponsors an ACGME accredited Epilepsy fellowship and an active rotation and conference schedule for the Neurology Residents.

    The successful candidate(s) will work with a group of adult epileptologists and clinical neurophysiologists and responsibilities may include clinical care, clinical research and trials, translational research and teaching.

    Salary is commensurate with the candidate's experience and background and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

    As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.     Qualifications

    Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

    Candidates must have a MD, DO or equivalent, or PhD in health related sciences, or MD/PhD.

    Candidates with a MD or DO must be Board certified or Board eligible in Neurology, EEG/Clinical Neurophysiology, or Epilepsy. Candidates with a MD or DO must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

    Preferred qualifications

    Candidates with excellent communication skills are preferred.
