Title Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Pediatrics

The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research at Indiana University School of Medicine seeks to hire a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor specialized in bioinformatics and data science research for multi-omics data analysis.

The successful candidate is expected establish an independent research program and work with investigators in the Wells Center to provide bioinformatics support for the analysis and integration of a large variety of omics data, including genetics (whole genome sequencing, whole exome sequencing and gene panels), genomics (RNA-seq and miRNA-seq), epigenetics and gene regulation (ATAC-seq, HiC, ChIP-seq, Cut & Run, DNA methylation), metagenomics (16S and shotgun sequencing), single cell analytics (single-cell RNA-seq, single- cell ATAC-seq, and single-cell multiome), spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and kinome analysis.

In addition to supervising the creation and implementation of bioinformatics pipelines, the successful candidate is also expected to provide basic bioinformatics education for the biologist trainees regarding data interpretation.

The Wells Center is embedded in the country's largest medical school, Indiana University School of Medicine, and physically connected to Riley Children's Hospital at IU Health, a national leader in child health care. With generous support from Riley Children's Foundation, the center's uniquely collaborative ecosystem and highly specialized resources have positioned the Department of Pediatrics as a national leader—ranked 6th in federal funding among the nation's public medical schools.

Nearly 200 scientists, clinicians, administrative staff and trainees are housed in the center, which encompasses more than 100,000 square feet of office and wet laboratory space in Downtown Indianapolis.

Basic Qualifications

PhD or Terminal degree in bioinformatics, systems biology, machine learning or a related field. Candidates with specialization or research in multi-omics data integration, single-cell analytics, spatial transcriptomics and proteomics, chromatin conformation, or machine learning and artificial intelligence are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidates should demonstrate a track record of establishing successful collaborative research programs.
