Faculty Track Tenure-Track Position Title Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Biomedical Sciences Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Biddeford, ME Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine invites applications from individuals who possess interest, experience, and enthusiasm for teaching in an integrated curriculum with a team of biomedical and clinical faculty, as well as a record of innovative biomedical research. We are looking for individuals with expertise, particularly in teaching microbiology to medical students, but also with experience in teaching in some of the following areas: pharmacology, physiology, immunology, or biochemistry.

In addition to a strong research portfolio, candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and possess the desire to develop skills in this area. Experience with case-based teaching in a non-lecture format is preferred.

Candidates with research interests that complement the existing strengths at the University are preferred. These include a collaborative group of neuroscience investigators examining the neurobiology of pain across a variety of pre-clinical models, using sophisticated imaging, molecular, and behavioral analyses. Additional strengths in research include anatomy, cell signaling, metabolic diseases, immunology and infectious diseases, and medical education. Ample research space is available, along with access to shared instrumentation and core facilities with highly-trained staff for comprehensive imaging and histology approaches, behavioral analysis, and genotyping services.

Maine's only medical school, UNE COM is located on the southern Maine coast, approximately 30 minutes south of Portland and 90 minutes north of Boston. The campus includes the UNE undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities include team-based delivery of innovative medical and dental curricula, and providing academic service to the college, university, and his/her profession.

Candidates for a position as Assistant Professor should have a doctoral degree, and postdoctoral and teaching experience. Candidates for advanced positions should also have demonstrated management and leadership capabilities, a record of excellence in teaching and scholarship, and a history of success in obtaining external research funding.
