Assistant Applications and Development Consultant

LCS / IT Operations

FTE: 1.0 fte (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH7 £35,333 to £38,592 pa with potential to progress to £42,155 by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

We have an exciting opportunities available within the University of Hertfordshire's IT Operations Department within Library and Computing Services for an Assistant Applications and Development Consultant with the right skills and experience in configuring and supporting Enterprise Business systems.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in contributing to the delivery of IT services and solutions that support the business in achieving its corporate goals. Main duties involve second line support of the University's Enterprise Business applications resolving ‘Business As Usual' technical queries across the University, as well as undertaking upgrades and provide a key role in the implementation of new systems and services. Responsibilities will include planning, configuration, testing, and end-user support of a wide variety of Enterprise applications and software solutions to meet University 24/7 service requirements, in-line with security arrangements including their inter-operation with other systems and services.

Skill and experience required

You will have proven practical expertise and experience at an appropriate level of responsibility in configuration of software solutions and business applications, delivering services to a diverse population of clients. Additionally, you'll have experience of translating business requirements into a technical solution taking into account the underpinning data management and data security.

An understanding of SQL, fault resolution and data manipulation is key. Awareness or experience in Microsoft Office 365 Power Platform would be an advantage.

The right attitude and aptitude are key qualities along with good communication skills and very good attention to detail. You will be self- motivated, customer focused with the ability to work on your own initiative and be a good team player. You must also be able to present complex information in an understandable manner working to standards and produce good documentation where needed.

Qualifications required

You will have as a minimum a degree (or equivalent level qualification) or equivalent expertise and proven experience. A Qualification in computing at professional level or equivalent expertise and proven experience is also essential.
