The School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a part-time non-tenure track Assistant Adjunct Professor position in the Division of Community Health Sciences (CHS) for the Health and Social Behavior (HSB) program. The initial appointment is for 2 years with the option for possible reappointment. The CHS Division offers the opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration with distinguished faculty and researchers at UC Berkeley and within the greater Bay Area. The successful applicant will be assigned a senior faculty mentor through our Junior Faculty Mentoring Program and provided with career development, guidance, and training to ensure a pathway to success.
We welcome applicants from public health, epidemiology, health policy, health services research, health education, and other related disciplines with research interests in program planning, organizational development, and design. We seek individuals with a track record of research related to developing and evaluating effective community-based interventions. The teaching expectation for this position is one course per academic year in program planning, design, and implementation. We are looking for individuals with teaching experience related to developing and evaluating effective community-based interventions, creating service opportunities for students, and strengthening the relationship between the University and surrounding communities. There will also be an assignment of service commitments at the School level, including attending faculty meetings, creating service opportunities for students, and serving on CHS/HSB admissions committees.
This is a part-time position, with a minimum appointment of 40%. The CHS Division will fund 24% of the Assistant Adjunct Professor's annual, full-time equivalent salary; the candidate will be expected to provide the remaining 16% or more through external research or soft funding.
