Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation's leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities. The Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center ( ARDEC) is a comprehensive research, education, and outreach facility utilized by approximately 50+ faculty in the Departments of Animal Sciences, Agricultural Biology, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Soil and Crop Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Biology, as well as USDA/ARS scientists in support of the land grant mission. Plant Science Unit operations and facilities include a general processing facility, shops, grain storage, pesticide and fertilizer storage, and equipment storage and is comprised of 955+/- acres in two locations within 3 miles of each other. Farms are mostly irrigated cropland used by programs in crops, soils, and pest management. The plant science activities are managed by the Plant Science Manager. Livestock Unit operations and facilities include a 200-head Feed Intake Unit equipped with GrowSafe technology, 175 head Angus and Hereford seedstock cowherd with annual 40 head bull sale, sheep unit, 240 head heifer development facility, 510 head feedlot consisting of 50, 10-head pens, commodity storage, 212 acre pasture under pivot irrigation for intensive management of the cowherd during the summer, forage production, livestock handling facility, metabolic research facility, and supporting infrastructure. The livestock activities are managed by the Livestock Unit Manager. ARDEC hosts many tours, events, educational courses, and outreach opportunities at the ARDEC Headquarters office, ARDEC Conference Center and the CoBank Center for Agricultural Education. Overall ARDEC operations and fiscal responsibilities are managed by the Operations Manager under parameters set by the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) Deputy Director and College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) Executive Director of Finance.

Position Summary

Required Job Qualifications

Research Associate Level I (RAI) is an entry-level position for individuals with a bachelor's degree or commensurate specialized experience and/or training and less than 3 years of professional experience.

Research Associate Level II includes individuals with an RAI appointment + 3 years experience or bachelor's degree + 3 years of professional experience, or a Master's degree.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the start date of the position. ARDEC will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions.
